FOYA, LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA – March 17, 2025 — Destiny Hands International Inc. has launched a new initiative aimed at addressing one of the barriers affecting girls’ education in Liberia—limited access to sanitary products.
Recognizing that many school-aged girls in Liberia and other developing nations face challenges accessing sanitary pads, Destiny Hands International began its efforts in Lofa County by distributing sanitary pads to female students at Foya Central High School. The initiative seeks to support girls in staying engaged in school while promoting health, dignity, and educational opportunity.
Lack of access to menstrual hygiene supplies can contribute to missed classroom time and create additional challenges for young women working to pursue their education. Through this initiative, Destiny Hands International aims to help reduce those barriers and empower girls to remain focused on their academic goals.
Working alongside the school’s female counselor, the organization successfully provided sanitary supplies to more than 75 middle and high school female students, helping ensure that girls have access to essential resources needed for both their education and well-being.
School leaders and community members welcomed the support, highlighting the importance of creating learning environments where girls can participate fully and confidently in their education.
Destiny Hands International expressed appreciation to donors and supporters whose generosity made the initiative possible.
“We believe no girl should have to miss school because she lacks access to basic menstrual hygiene supplies,” organizers shared. “Education opens doors to opportunity, and together we can help remove barriers that prevent girls from reaching their full potential,” they added.
While the launch marks an important beginning, organization leaders emphasize that the need remains significant. Destiny Hands International is actively seeking additional partners, donors, and resources to expand the program and reach more girls throughout Foya District and Lofa County.
The organization is calling on individuals, community organizations, and supporters to join the effort to improve educational access and health outcomes for young women across Liberia.
Together, we can help ensure that every girl has the support and essentials she needs to learn, thrive, and build a brighter future.
